Someone once said that time flies, but actually, time does not stop running.

Time is made up of the sequence of events, and we are in charge of experiencing them.

For some, time is socially constructed, based on the first studies of the universe to the effort to establish the calendars. Time is a system used in everyday life and is present in many, if not all, aspects of our life. The basic unit of time is the second. From there, we know the minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years.

As time passes, human beings experience all kinds of events. The experiences that make up our time mark a series of sensations in ourselves and the people around us.

Many of us can say that “we have time” or “I have time to do this or that.” But in reality, time is not a possession, and we cannot own something we cannot possess. Time is a constant entity that we use to guide or make sense of events’ succession. In other words, we know that the day ends when the night begins. However, we cannot do anything to prevent it from being so. The sequence of time cannot be stopped, nor can it be accelerated, unless a clock is reversed. In which case, the way we measure time would be altered, explaining why time is a social construction.

Time is a “what” when we want to know the hour. Time is a “who” when we blame him for not being enough. Time is a “how” when we use it to plan. Time is a “when” when we look for it on the calendar. And time is a “where” when we can’t find it. Time is the “I’m here for you” of our experiences.

The funny thing about time is that it can be felt as infinite or as ephemeral. Sixty seconds of eating is not the same as sixty seconds without breathing.

We can invest in time, and we can cast good and bad moments at different times lapses, but no one can assure himself how many lapses he can experience. Therefore, it is advisable to live each of these in the most memorable way possible.

Building moments can be comforting and satisfying when we realize that our last event is yet to happen. When we die, time continues to run, and events continue to unfold, just not for those that are no longer there to live them. That is why it is essential to ask, “What moments do we invest in time?” We say that moments come and go, that they are only experiences, but when it comes to the truth, those experiences are life itself.

Dedicate yourself to “time,” not to finding a way to understand it.
