Following a brainstorming session hosted by Bladen’s Bloomin’ Agri-Industrial last week, several ideas have been discussed to help grown Bladen County’s economy. The brainstorming session was part of a grant received about three years ago.
Three years ago the county received a $250,000 grant for an industrial project in Bladenboro. As a result of that grant, a poultry plant is now located in the Bladenboro Industrial Park; of that grant, $10,000 of the funds were specified for finding ways to improve the business climate in Bladen County.
Some of the suggestions discussed during the brainstorming session include:
*a tourism co-op
*A “Shop Bladen Initiative”
*a “Shark Tank” event for business entrepreneurs
*videos to promote the county to prospective industries
*constructing business incubator space for small businesses and industrial incubators
*a Bladen County Chamber of Commerce
