thoughts while shavingYesterday’s high temp was 90 degrees … Hot weather, and more is on the way…

Today (Juneteenth), sunny with a high near 90. Mostly clear tonight with a low around 65 … Thursday, sunny with a high near 91 … Friday … Sunny with a high near 95 … 98 Saturday … Sunday … high near 99 … 97 degrees Monday … and a 30% chance of rain … High Tuesday 98 with a 30% chance of rain…

Remember the cold days of winter … and we were looking forward to summer and higher temps … Here we are…

As already mentioned … Today is Juneteenth … Banks and the US Post Office will be closed today … Back to normal Thursday…

Bladen We Care Golf fundraiser slated for Thursday … held this year at Wallace, NC. Sold out, however a few cancellations … but, entry fees have been donated to the cause…

US Presidential debate upcoming … no live audience, muted mics when opponent is speaking … Should be interesting … President Biden is 81 and former President Trump is 78 …

Remember when political advertising was mostly pictures of opponents … many in windows, on trees, taped to vehicles … local, daily newspapers…

While on the topic of yesteryear … remember counter checks, everywhere? Many used as scratch pads … Frankly, I miss those days … Latest updates were available at small country stores located throughout the area … and drive-in restaurants, complete with curb hops…

And a sad note for baseball fans … Willie Mays, “The Say Hey Kid,” died yesterday … One of the greatest baseball players who ever played the game … He was 93 years old…
