Thoughts While Shaving

Someone forgot to close the door.

Winter storm warning from 11 AM today to 6 AM Thursday.  Heavy mixed precipitation expected.  Plan on difficult travel conditions.  Total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze are expected, according to the National Weather Service.

The warning includes portions of northeast South Carolina and southeast North Carolina, including Bladen County.

Prepare for significant reductions in visibility at times.  For latest road conditions in the area, call 5-1-1.

NWS is calling for a 60% possibility of precipitation today , 70% tonight.  Thursday, sunny with a high near 34.  Winds will be picking up from 5 to 8 mph today to around 9 mph tonight and near 20 mph Thursday and Thursday night.

If we are lucky, maybe the storm will take a more easterly route and spare us the precipitation….Don’t expect that. Plan for the worse.

Stay in, stay warm and share info and your warm home with a less fortunate friend.  Check on shut-ins and the elderly.

Bladen County Schools will operate on a two-hour Early Release today, for students.  Staff will operate on a regular work-day schedule.  All after-school activities for Bladen County schools are canceled for today (Wednesday), according to Valerie Newton, Bladen County School Information Officer.

We are beginning 2018 with a burst of artic air, plan accordingly.  Call ahead to determine if planned meetings have been cancelled.

Some brave souls took a ‘Polar Plung” Monday at White Lake.  The water temp was about 34 degrees, air temp 23 with a chilly breeze.  Life is all about choices.  I marked that one off my list years ago.

I can be found at home today, hopefully warm and cozy, thinking about frozen pipes and praying that our over-worked heating system does not go on the ‘blink’, that our electrical service is not interrupted and that others are safe as well.

Google the National Weather Service  throughout the day for updates, or check BladenOnline for the latest info.
