The Town of Bladenboro is seeking an innovative, motivated leader to professionally direct, lead, and coordinate all operations of our 5-member police department. We are pursuing a law enforcement leader who has a strong background working in collaboration with the community and other town departments, excellent communication skills, and a proven record of working effectively with a diverse community.

This position requires honesty and integrity, effective decision-making, fiscal and budgetary skills, strategic planning, sound technical and technological skills in law enforcement, criminal justice and public safety. Work involves responsibility for the protection of life and property through a varied program of enforcement, detection and prevention of crime and accidents, and planning and directing emergency response activities. Work also involves a full managerial and supervisory role including the establishment of policy, evaluation and adherence to prescribed standards; planning for and implementing special enforcement activities; preparing special state, federal and local reports; analyzing crime and accident trends; cooperating with other law enforcement agencies, and management and supervision of all department personnel. Work is performed in accordance with departmental policy and state and federal law. Work is performed under the general supervision of the town administrator.

Must have 6 years’ experience in law enforcement or have a 4-year degree in criminal justice or a related field and have 3 years’ experience in law enforcement and possess intermediate Law Enforcement Certificate. Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Candidates must have current NC law enforcement certification and possess a valid NC driver’s license. Hiring Range is $43,474-$57,042 depending on qualifications.
