Rain at the Hester household would be welcomed…A reminder of the new date for the Bladen County Relay for Life at Elizabethtown Middle School… Mark your calendar… Saturday, May 30th. Preliminary info indicates lots of participation, despite the fact the event had to be “pushed back” because of the weather. The event begins at 11 a.m. and will end at 11 p.m. Oh yes, the purple toilets with a nice arrangement of flowers have been a huge success for those involved in fundraising.
A year ago, there was much concern about the status of the only golf course in Bladen County…. Complete with a new owner, a new name and a familiar individual to greet you… There is much change… Bill Augustine is the new owner, Vineyard Golf at White Lake is the new name and the familiar face is Bobby Davis… What a difference a year makes.
Blueberries are one of the top, if not the top agricultural crop in Bladen County and it is just about time for the 2015 crop… and strawberries are currently available at various locations in the county.
Also, check the local Farmer Markets for fresh veggies this time of the year.
Think I mentioned recently, but worth repeating…. Pull up to a service station, have your gas pumped and windshield washed and pulled away for very little cash… that was a long time ago…
