Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

It’s winter time in Bladen…took a while….remember last year, I forgot, but I am reminded, it was cold…as it was this A.M.

Ever read an obit, someone you did not have the pleasure of knowing and think…wish I had known him or her…

Eighty-one entries this A.M. in my greymail file…junk, spoof, spam and others, fortunately all captured and removed from regular mail….Add the 81 entries with the unwanted telephone calls and the total is approaching 100….daily.  Not everyday, but more often than….well, you understand.  Guess it is an industry, someone produces and sends or calls with info I could do without…Seems to be more, not less….in fact, kinda getting out of hand..

Remember hearing farmers say we need some really cold weather to rid ourselves of something…unwanted, maybe insects that harm their crops.  Wonder how much cold weather it takes to meet those needs….probably much less for me…I love spring and fall…something in the middle of cold and hot.

Rode over to White Lake recently…looking good….clear water, a huge improvement over conditions a year ago…More like the White Lake we have known and enjoyed over the years….

What’s on your ‘bucket list’?  Those things you would like to do before ‘father time’ catches up with you… My list is shrinking, not because of a new experience,…..but less desire, mostly….Age has a way of re-shaping the list….

Find myself humming a song from yesteryear occasionally…not sure why or what….Recently it was the old Tennessee Ernie Ford tune, ‘Sixteen Tons’….and what do you get, another day older and deeper in debt…..Saint Peter don’t call me cause I can’t go.  I owe my soul to the company store…one fist of iron, the other of steel…If the right one don’t get you then the left one will.’

The trip from the ’50s and ’60s to today has created a ‘ton’ of musical memories along the way….

Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.  Victor Hugo

A great song should lift your heart, warm the soul and make you feel good.  Colbie Caillat

Music is the soundtrack of your life.  Dick Clark
