The Kiwanis Club of Elizabethtown in Bladen County has a lot on their plate after they met at Cindy’s Restaurant this month. The group is helping with scholarships, Hurricane Florence recovery efforts and the fight against cancer.
Jeff Futrell, President of the Club welcomed the group of Kiwanians and Key Club members. Under his leadership the club is reaching out in several ways to help the local community and the nation.
Dr. Lisa Bryan, Secretary of the Club announce the progress being made with raffle ticket sales to help the club’s Relay for Life team raise funds for the non-profit to help fight cancer. Bryan said the club needed sponsors and distributed forms for sponsors and rose sales.

She added, “We would also like to encourage volunteers to drive cancer patients to much needed doctor and treatment appointments.” You may volunteer by calling 1-800-227-2345.
Khalil McKoy, Key Club President and the club’s advisor, Daine Smith announced service projects the club has planed. There are two area residents who suffered damages to their home during Hurricane Florence. The Key Club will assist the residents in the upcoming weeks by providing repair work.
