Leaders from across the state in early childhood health, education and child welfare will launch the NC Early Childhood Action Plan at a summit on Feb. 27 in Raleigh.

With 10 data-informed goals that prioritize changing outcomes for children from birth through age 8 across the state, the plan provides a bold vision and framework for all North Carolinians to take action for young children.

The NC Early Childhood Summit will focus on the state’s commitments to young children through the Early Childhood Action Plan. Speakers include Governor Roy Cooper, NCDHHS Secretary Mandy Cohen, former Governor James B. Hunt Jr. and North Carolina First Lady Kristin Cooper, and a keynote address by Dr. Jack Shonkoff of the Harvard Center for the Developing Child.

Registration for the event is now closed. Watch on-air via the North Carolina Channel or via livestreaming online by visiting www.ncchannel.org, provided by UNC-TV. Coverage will run 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Through its Children’s Media and Education Services (CMES) division, UNC-TV Public Media North Carolina extends its 60-year history and commitment to early childhood education. As part of its support engaging with and providing resources for instructors, parents and caregivers, UNC-TV and its CMES team are excited to make the North Carolina Early Childhood Summit available live in its entirety.
