WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Chris Coons (D-DE), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, held their first subcommittee hearing of the116th Congress to examine the 2019 Annual Intellectual Property Report to Congress. The committee heard from the Honorable Vishal Amin, the Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator in the Executive Office of the President.

“Our nation’s innovation economy is facing a number of challenges in the 21st century. From competition from State Actors like China to confusion about what’s even eligible to be patented, there are many issues Congress needs to address to ensure America’s innovation economy continues to dominate the globe,” said Senator Tillis. “This Congress, my vision for the Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property is to tackle head on in a bipartisan, bicameral way the major issues facing America’s IP system and conduct rigorous oversight of the agencies tasked with protecting our nation’s intellectual property system. I look forward to working hand in hand with Ranking Member Coons on how we can encourage more women, people of color, and small business owners and inventors to engage in our intellectual property system.”
