WHITEVILLE – Two Whiteville men were arrested Friday morning following a three-month investigation, according to a release from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Vice-Narcotics Unit. The investigation because of a several citizen complaints.

Andrew Johnson, 30, of Greenfield Estates Road, has been charged with two counts each of possession of a firearm by a felon and to sell or deliver heroin, the Sheriff’s Office reported. He was charged with single counts of maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for the use, sale or storage of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin and possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver MDPV. Johnson is being held on a $3.1 million bond.

Kenyarta T. Smith, 28, of Mount Calvary Road, has been charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, the release said. His bond was set at $50,000.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, investigators made multiple uncovercover purchases of heroin from Johnson. Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Vice-Narcotics investigators executed a search warrant at Johnson’s residence in the 100 block of Greenfield Estates Road in Whiteville on April 26. Officers saw Smith flushing cocaine down a toilet, according to the report.

Investigators found cocaine, heroin, MDPV, and two firearms in Johnson’s possession, the Sheriff’s Office says.

The release said the investigation is ongoing and expect additional charges in the case.
