Burgaw, NC – Billy McGavock leaves a legacy of outstanding service and leadership having served over four decades with Four County EMC. At a young age, McGavock began his career with Four County in January 1977 in the Elizabethtown Office as a Groundman Trainee. Moving up the ranks, McGavock served in a variety of roles within the Cooperative, occupying the positions of 1st Class Serviceman, Energy Advisor, District Staking Technician and Operations Supervisor. In 2010, McGavock was named Vice President of Operations, which resulted in greater responsibilities, making him responsible for distribution work system-wide.
“McGavock’s work ethic, devotion and member focus have been exemplary and we are very grateful for the contributions he has made to the company over the years. His knowledge and experience will certainly be missed,” stated Mitch Keel, CEO of Four County EMC.
The cooperative honored McGavock during a retirement luncheon at Four County EMC headquarters office in Burgaw on June 14. McGavock is a life-long resident of Bladen County, attends Elizabethtown Baptist Church and enjoys fishing and playing golf. Future plans include traveling with his wife Phoebe.
Scott Cook has been named the new VP of Operations to fill McGavock’s position, duties and responsibilities. Cook has worked in the electric utility industry since 1994 and was formerly with EnergyUnited in Statesville.
