WINNABOW – Bladen County rolled to a 19-3 mercy-rule victory over Brunswick County National Monday morning in the second round of the North Carolina Dixie Boys Baseball State Tournament at Town Creek Park.
After Brunswick scored two runs in the top of the first, Alex Strange walked and raced home when Devon Strange ripped a double to center field. Garrison Tatum walked, and Elijah Bullard smacked a single to right that scored Devon Strange with the tying run.
Pitcher Michael Young blasted a three-run home run over the left field fence that scored Bullard and Nathan Howell, the courtesy runner for Garrison Tatum, to give Bladen County an early 5-2 lead.
