Recently attended a meeting where one of the topics was robo-calls. … Last year over 5.3 billion calls were made. Not all robo calls are bad … the medical community uses them to remind us of appointments, as well as our schools, churches, numerous individuals and organizations, mostly for notification purposes. They become bad when the purpose is fraud. According to the speaker, robo calls are the number one complaint at the FCC and FTC. He cited one bad actor who was fined $3 million, but he or she was OK after a $30 million dollar profit … just the cost of doing business.

Frustrating when your own number is spoofed … but it happens and regulators do not have an answer.

NFL action late last night … Packers 31 – Chiefs 24. Tonight, Steelers vs Dolphins.

One more reminder of the Job Fair tomorrow (Tuesday) October 29th (5 p.m.-8 p.m.) at Bladen Community College … a joint effort by BCC and Southeastern Community College. If interested, need to be there. 100 tech type jobs in the area, a strong possibility.

Early voting continues in the municipal elections that end this week. … Election date is Tuesday, November 5th.

Congressman Dan Bishop of Charlotte was in the county Saturday, visiting at Beast Fest in Bladenboro.
