Spread the love

This is the last weekend in the year 2019. … Overall, more pluses than negatives … (my opinion).

New businesses in the area, example, Bojangles in Elizabethtown, more job opportunities … Smithfield Foods, WARP (Clarkton), and in Bladenboro, an effort to revitalize the downtown area … a couple of new buildings in the Elizabethtown Industrial Park, some success in stabilizing dikes in the Kelly area. …. An upgrade at US Lock & Dam on the Cape Fear River … and there are more … a net plus for the area in 2019.

Star Telephone received a $27 million grant for Bladen and Sampson counties to upgrade and add more fiber to their system … more will be needed … Four County EMC is building a new facility in the Elizabethtown area … all signs of success. … New facility in Elizabethtown that will be home to the Fire Department and Rescue Squad and result in a huge upgrade for that section of town. … 2019 has been a pretty good year. … Yes, we lost friends, loved ones, everything is not perfect, never will be … but again … all things considered … a net plus for the area. … Farming was up and down … blueberry crop appeared to be very good … other crops were not as fortunate … but there is always next year. Hog and chicken business apparently still going strong…

Just thinking out loud…

UNC football team scored often defeating the Temple Owls, 55-13. Mack Brown restoring life to the program. The Demon Deacons of Wake Forest lost to the Spartans of Michigan State 27-21, still a strong year, finishing 8-5.

Today, bowl games continue … Notre Dame vs Iowa State in the Camping World Bowl. And, it’s Memphis vs Penn State in the Cotton Bowl … Kick off for both … 12 noon, according to my schedule.

Weather today … as good as it gets in late December. … Becoming mostly sunny with a high temp in the low 70s … Too nice to be shut up inside…

A good deed is never lost: he who sows courtesy reaps friendship; and he who plants kindness gathers love.

Every day we have an opportunity to create a masterpiece.

“Don’t bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself.” William Faulkner
