The Eighth Annual Polar Plunge is scheduled, according to Camp Clearwater officials. The event is held annually inside Camp Clearwater at White Lake on New Year’s Day.

The plunge will start at 11 a.m. behind the arcade inside Camp Clearwater. The event is open to friends of the community.

After the polar plunge White Lake Water Rescue holds a fundraiser by serving a traditional New Year’s dinner with collards, pork, chicken and rice, cornbread and more. The fundraiser will also be held inside Camp Clearwater, according to WL Water Rescue Deputy Cheif Amber Glisson.

Overnight camp sites are available for $40 per site at Camp Clearwater. RV and tent campers can call and make a reservations for Tuesday night. For more information call the camp ground at 910-862-3365 or the Elizabethtown office at 910-862-2091.

Polar Plunge 2015

About 40 people participated in the 4th annual Polar Plunge at Camp Clearwater in White Lake. The water temperature was 53 degrees. With a steady breeze coming off the lake, the wind chill on land was 38 degrees.
