Desmond Bryant was back in Bladen Saturday for a free football camp. The former East Bladen Eagle, now defensive lineman of the NFL Cleveland Browns, has held the camp over the past 3 or 4 years….
It was the second such camp this summer in Bladen County . Richard Howie, a former Bladenboro Bulldog and Davidson quarterback was at West Bladen for a similar camp a few weeks ago. He has been involved in the fitness business in the NFL for many years…Nice to have both come back home and inspire youngsters to be all they can be.
Remember last winter when it was so cold and we wanted warmer weather…It has arrived, in fact arrived over a month ago and continues….Temps over the next few days will be in he mid to upper 90’s.

One more week for incumbents hoping to serve another term or newcomers seeking to serve on the board of one of our municipalities….Filing takes place at the Bladen County Board of Elections on Cypress Street in Elizabethtown. Filing ends at 12 noon Friday, July 17.
Bladenboro Town Board meets 7 p.m. Monday.
DAV State Commander Gregory Alan Deesee will be in town Tuesday, according to Commander David Brown of the local DAV unit…All disabled veterans are encouraged to attend at the VFW Building on Hill Street.
