I enjoy Bladen County Headlines … 35 Years Ago, and the most recent version brought back good memories. John (Mr. Johnny) D. Mercer was our rural mail carrier for many, many years. Always drove a new Ford auto, and he was a good PR type person for the U.S. Post Office.
Dustin Johnson was the winner in most recent The Northern Trust Golf Tournament. Top prize, $1,710,000. Johnson lapped the field winning by 11 strokes. The BMW Championship will be played next week, followed by the Tour Championship where top prize is a “kewl” $15 million, if my info is correct.
I ‘skipped’ church yesterday, not really, just decided to watch on social media … Sometimes a change is good … Can worship in a group, or all alone … Enjoyed the service, a diet coke and a handful of Hersey’s Kisses…
Saw where the USS Ronald Reagan has docked at the Naval Base in Guam … for safe haven liberty. No COVID-19 cases have been identified on board as of Saturday, however the Governor of Guam has placed the island on lockdown, after a large spike in virus cases … The USS Ronald Reagan’s home dock is a site in Japan. I keep up with their movements, some what … Have a nephew on board.
Saw the 60 minutes news piece about Russian interference in the 2016 elections … I get a little ‘hot under the collar’ when I think about that … And, according to the news show, the same group in Moscow is doing some of the same things now. Charges have been made, but can’t arrest the ‘hoodlums’ in Russia … all done via the Internet … Such ‘characters’ as those charged would have been put to death years ago … but today is today and different … the Internet is ‘good’ and ‘bad’.
The Republican National Convention is all set for this week in Charlotte, but like the most recent Democratic convention, many of the participants will be participating from ‘long distance.’ Coverage begins about the same time as my bedtime, as was the case last week.
