The White Lake Town Council met Thursday evening to act on a special use permit after conducting a public hearing at its regular meeting Tuesday night.

Jake Womble, Dean Hilton, and Mollie Owen requested a Special Use Permit to develop an overnight RV Park. The property where the campground is to be constructed is zoned B (Business) and is located at 1611 White Lake Drive. Campgrounds are permitted by special use in the B district.

The Planning Board at its February 21 meeting reviewed the application and submitted its findings that the application is complete, the requested use of the property is allowed as a special use and the application complies with the Zoning Ordinance, and that the application be granted. The Board reviewed and discussed the request and completed the review checklist. The Board approved the special use permit.

Harry’s RV Park will be an additional property being updated beside the former Red & White at White Lake. This is slated to be the 100th Anniversary of Goldston’s Beach, which is now a part of the rebranded The Grand Regal.

The Grand Regal was formed through the acquisition of Regal Resort Campground, Carolina Bay, The Venue, Goldston’s Motel and Goldston’s Beach.

White Lake visitors and locals as well are excited to see and experience all that the changes will bring. The first opportunity will be during the 42nd Annual White Lake Water Festival on May 21–22 at Goldston’s Beach.
