The Bladen County Board of Elections met on August 17, 2021. Before the meeting started, Ms. Patricia Sheppard, who was reappointed to the Bladen County Board of Elections, was sworn in.

BC Board of Elections Director Chris Williams said, “We now have a full board.”

After the meeting was called to order, there was a “heated shouting match” between the Bladen County Republican Chair, Wayne Schaeffer, Bladen County citizen, Jane Pait and reappointed Board of Elections member Democrat Patsy Sheppard. The argument was regarding appointments for judges at the voting sites.

After discussion, the Chair of the Board of Elections, Louella P. Thompson, led the action taken during the meeting to elect poll workers.

No other action was taken during the meeting.

The next Board of Elections meeting will be held on September 14, 2021, at 5:00 pm. The meeting will be held in person at the Bladen County Board of Elections located at 301 S. Cypress Street in Elizabethtown.

The public is invited to attend.

The Board of Elections released a notice of the municipal election to be conducted in Bladen County on November 2, 2021, with a list of Election Contests and a Referendum .

TOWN OF WHITE LAKE MIXED BEVERAGE ELECTION

For – To permit the sale of mixed beverages in hotels, restaurants, private clubs, community theatres, and convention centers.

Against – To permit the sale of mixed beverages in hotels, restaurants, private clubs, community theatres, and convention centers.

During the August 11, 2021, Board of Elections meeting, the Board voted on One-Stop Early Voting. The Board voted unanimously to operate one polling location for Early Voting, which will be held at the Bladen County Board of Elections Office beginning October 14 through October 30. Early voting hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 pm until 6:00 pm, and on Saturday, October 30, 2021, from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm. In October, the last Saturday will be the only Saturday the polls will be open for early voting because it is mandated by law.
