There are particular foods and drinks people look forward to having during the holidays. This week, Charlotte and Danna prepared a festive homemade egg nog recipe enjoyed by everyone who tried it.
This simple recipe is packed with delicious flavor and is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Watch the YouTube video linked below to watch how the two ladies prepare this specialty drink.
Ingredients:
- 6 large egg yokes
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1 cup of heaving whipping cream
- 2 cups of milk
- pinch of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Toppings:
- ground cinnamon
- whipped cream
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and the sugar rapidly.
- In a medium saucepan, mix together the milk, heavy whipping cream, the salt, and nutmeg. Stir ingredients together on medium to low heat and bring to a simmer.
- When the liquid mix is warm, spoon liquid out of the saucepan into the egg and sugar, mix one spoon full at a time into the bowl, and stir.
- Then add contents back into saucepan, add vanilla and stir for about three minutes.
- Finally, pour egg nog into a pitcher and put in the refrigerator until chilled. Add toppings and serve.
