On Friday, March 4, 2022, the Chief Medical Examiners Office in Raleigh positively identified the individual that was located in the Cape Fear River in White Oak, NC on February 25, 2022, as Willie Jean Teel (Jeannie).
Willie Jean Teal (Jeannie) was reported missing to the Bladen County Communications on Saturday, February 12, 2022. On Friday afternoon, February 25, 2022, members of the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office were conducting a water-born search for Willie Jean Teel.
The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office discovered a deceased white female within the vicinity of where Teel was reported missing.
An autopsy will be performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Raleigh. The cause of death and positive identification of the person has not been determined at this time.
