A road closings update in Bladen County from the North Carolina Department of Transportation as of Wednesday, March 23, 2022, has been released. NCDOT still gives no date on when the Elwell Ferry will reopen.
CLOSED:
NC242 – Road closed with a detour to replace crossline.
Starting March 28, 2022, 8:00 am – April 7, 2022, 5:00 pm road will be closed with a detour.
The detour will be SR1511 (Sweet Home Church Road) to SR1510 (Bladen Lakes School Road) to SR1509 (Johnsontown Road) to NC242.
US Highway 701N
Both lanes of the North Bound US Highway 701 over the Cape Fear River are closed. Traffic will be rerouted to the Southbound lanes. The closure has a WIDE LOAD TRAFFIC RESTRICTION.
