There were 165 ballots cast Thursday at the four Bladen County polling places on the first day of early voting for the May 17 primary election, according to Board of Elections director Chris Williams

Vote totals showed 91 ballots cast at the Board of Elections office in Elizabethown, 26 at Spaulding Monroe Cultural Center in Bladenboro, 37 at East Arcadia Town Hall and 11 at Tar Heel Municipal Building, according to BOE figures. Eight voters updated their registration and four people registered to vote.

The early voting period continues through Saturday, May 14 at the following locations:

• Bladen County Board of Elections, 301 S. Cypress St., Elizabethtown

• Spaulding Monroe Cultural Center, 508 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., Bladenboro

• East Arcadia Town Hall, 1472 East Arcadia Rd., Riegelwood

• Tar Heel Municipal Building, 14867 NC 87 West, Tar Heel

Early voting hours at each site are 8 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday.

During the early voting period, voters may cast a ballot at any one-stop site in their county. Eligible individuals may register and vote at the same time.
