Thoughts While ShavingDid you see the finals of the PGA golf tournament yesterday? Overtime playoff between a Canadian and a European … 4 extra holes between Nick Taylor, a Canadian pro, and Tommy Fleetwood of Great Britain. Taylor holed a 72-foot putt to win … Picked up a cool $1,620,000 … Tommy Fleetwood lost the playoff, picked up $981,000. I was thinking that both were big winners, and they were. But Taylor, the first Canadian winner’s putt, was worth $639,000. If you are a golfer or a has-been, how many times have you putted on the putting green and pretended it was worth a large amount of money?…

Later saw an old, old interview by Ralph Emery of Grand ‘Ole Opry fame with Barbara Mandrall. Emery died in the past couple of years and Mandrell is set to receive the 2023 Country Music CRB Artist Career Achievement Award. She retired from the Country Music industry in 1997. I still enjoy ‘thoughts from yesteryear.’

A Bladen County 6th grader was a huge winner in a fishing tournament off the coast of Brunswick and Myrtle Beach yesterday (Sunday) … details coming on our news page … later today…

We received rain at our place on Happy Valley Road near Elizabethtown last night … not sure how widespread it was … About a third of an inch at the Curt Brown Airport.

A 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Partly sunny with a high near 89. Windy, gusts as high as 20 mph today … More of the same tonight, low in the mid 60s and a 60% chance of rain. Tuesday, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, after 2 p.m. High near 87, 20% chance of rain and windy.

Be aware, school is out for the summer and youngsters are moving around … Be safe in your travels.
