A staff report

Welcome, NC – May 21, 2024 – Veterans Bridge Home is excited to announce a series of special events in honor of Women Veterans Day on June 12, 2024, at Richard Childress Racing (RCR) in Welcome, NC. This day-long celebration aims to recognize and honor the service of women veterans, offering them opportunities for connection, support, and valuable resources.

Morning Event: Veterans Coffee

Starting at 9:00 am, join us for our Monthly Veterans Coffee at the RCR Headquarters building, located at 425 Industrial Dr. (Follow the “Veteran Event” signs). This event is open to all veterans, their families, and supporters. Women veterans will be specially recognized for their contributions to our country. Various veteran resource organizations, including the VA, will be present to provide information about benefits, support resources, and activities available to veterans and their family members.

Afternoon Event: Women Veterans Summit

Following the morning coffee event, the Women Veterans Summit will begin, featuring lunch sponsored by the Gary Sinise Foundation. The summit is designed for women veterans, veteran spouses, and caregivers of veterans. Attendees can look forward to a program that includes a self-defense presentation by Armored Self Defense, resource organization visits, and presentations on physical, mental, and financial wellness. The keynote speaker for the summit will be Brigadier General (Ret.) Twanda “Tia” Young, U.S. Army.

The Women Veterans Summit is a great opportunity for attendees to connect with other women veterans and gain valuable insights and support. While there is no need to register for the morning coffee event, registration is required for the afternoon summit.
