Winter Park defeated Topsail 5-2 on Saturday to win the Diamond Youth Baseball Division 1 AAA (Minors) state championship at Clarkton DYB Complex.

Winter Park will represent North Carolina in the World Series beginning Aug. 2 in Bossier City, Louisiana. Winter Park will play the Florida state champion in the first round.

Winter Park went 5-1 in the 12-team state tournament. Its lone loss came Wednesday against Hope Mills 8-7. Winter Park beat Topsail twice in the tournament, including 10-1 in the second round.
