Thoughts While Shaving

Thoughts While ShavingIt’s Monday, the last Monday in October, 2015.  Halloween caps off the week & month….a full week and weekend of activities in the area….Many church related, the Bladenboro BeastFest and so much more.  Check our Events section…

Local football teams head back to the practice fields following a “not so good” Friday night performance.  Well, maybe that is not the best way to described….Both teams lost…..big time…West lost to Clinton, East to Wallace Rose Hill….The top 2 teams in the conference….Both Bladen County teams still have a couple of games remaining. East plays at Union Friday evening and West entertains Midway.  Then, the last regular season game pits the two local teams at East Bladen.

More football, how about the Carolina Panthers?  Another win and no losses in regular season play…so far.

Friday evening, East Bladen bid an official good bye to the folks who have provided a huge service for years in the press box….Lyn Shaw, Jim McLaney and Chicky Robbins….The PA announcer, the clock operator and scoreboard operator, all have departed the scene after a combined 127 years of service……Actually, they all left as of last year.  This year, temporary replacements have manned the positions….

Patty Evers, East Bladen Athletic Director, is looking for permanent replacements….and most likely, there are folks, supporters who have thought they would like to fill one of the positions…..maybe someone who has not followed the situation closely that may be interested….Contact Patty at the school.  This year is covered…..and one or two may be interested in staying on….but some replacements are needed for the future……Now is your time….at least to inquire…..
