Bladenboro Community Building Ribbon Cutting 2Bladenboro Town officials officially opened the new Community Building Friday afternoon under nearly cloudless skies and a brisk wind.

Duckworth, Brisson and Waddell were joined by beauty queens Jordan Benson and Maycee Kinlaw for the official ribbon cutting.

The town received a $500,000 NC Catalyst Community Development Block Grant in September 2012 to demolish the nearly 70 year old community building and construct a new one on the site.
The Board recently approved usage rules, rent and deposit requirements  for the new building.  The town will charge $100 for the use of the facility, which will be due at the time the key is picked up from Town Hall.  A $50 deposit at time of booking will be required, which will be refundable when the key is returned.  Cancellations must be made 48 hours before the booked date or the user will lose the deposit.  Activities must cease at midnight, and the facility must be cleared.  No alcoholic beverages will be allowed on the premises, and smoking will be not allowed within the facility.
The town recently held a ribbon cutting on a new Farmers Market and expects to do the same on a new Fire Department before the end of the year.
