Thoughts While Shaving
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  For many, Thanksgiving is the time to do the decorating and then there are others and we procrastinate, but we will get there.
Elizabethtown Christmas Parade kicks off at 3 p.m. today though downtown Elizabethtown.
A year ago, BladenOnline was being re-constructed.  Today, all is well and the entire staff is working hard to continue to earn your trust and keep the title of the ‘Best Source For Bladen County News’, and a reminder,  THE BEST IS YET TO COME.
High school basketball is underway, most inexpensive entertainment around.  Support our young folks.
Filing for political offices begins noontime Tuesday.  Six (6) county commissioner seats are up for election and three (3) Board of Ed seats.  Of course, there are others.  If you don’t file and you don’t vote, don’t complain.
As I look around and listen to others, there is much concern about church attendance, especially the drop in attendance by young folks, beginning at the youngest levels.  Not the youngsters fault, mom and dad must bring them up in the way they should go and when they are older they will not depart….hopefully.
Youngsters and adults, need all the help available to ‘navigate’ the streams and storms of life.
The weather has been wonderful but change is on the way.  Rain and cooler temps should arrive early Monday morning.  In the meantime, enjoy.
Have had inquiries about Janice Johnson, my longtime walking ‘buddy.’ You recall she was involved in a vehicle accident 14 months ago.  Saw here yesterday, she continues to talk about walking again and wants to come home.  Much work remains, but her attitude remains positive.  She is a patient in the extended care unit of Pender County Hospital in Burgaw.  Cards and visits are welcomed.
Two thoughts I attempt to abide by.  When visiting, leave while they still want you to stay, and, give advice only when requested, and then sparingly.
When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has just opened for us.  Helen Keller
Happiness is not a state to arrive at, but a manner of travel.  Margaret Lee Runbeck
There is only one person who could ever make you happy, and that person is you.  David Burns
A light heart lives long.  William Shakespeare
Enjoy this day.
