Tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 1) will be the first day candidates can sign up to seek elected office.

Local offices as well as state and some federal offices will be up for grab including the office of the President of the United States.

In Bladen County, two countywide commissioners seats currently held by Michael Cogdell, Jimmie Smith and Billy Ray Pait are available. The seat for County Commissioner District 1 held by Dr. Delilah Blanks and County Commissioner District 2 held by Daniel Dowless, County Commissioner District 3 held by Wayne Edge.

Seats on the Bladen County Board of Education are also up for grabs. The Board of Education District 1 seat held by Ophelia Munn-Goins,  District 2 held by Wilbur Smith, and the District 3 seat held by Bonnell Walker.

The Soil and Water Conservation District seat held by McCrae Dowless is also available.

On the state level, Superior Court Judges Douglas Sasser and Ola Lewis are up for re-election.  In the District Court Judges for District 13 seats held by Pauline Hankins, Jerry Jolly, Marion Warren, and Scott Ussery are available.

District Attorney Jon David, who serves District 13 which consists of Bladen, Brunswick and Columbus counties, is also up for re-election.

Also, the N.C. House District 22 seat currently held by William Brisson will be available as well as the N.C. House of Representatives District 46 seat held by Ken Wadell. Waddell has announced he will not seek re-election to his seat.

NC Senate District 8 seat held by Bill Rabon.

On the federal level, U.S. Senator Richard Burr, US 7th district Congressman David Rouzer are up for re-election.
