A former U.S. Postal Service employee in Bladen County pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor larceny and has paid back nearly all of the more than $8,000 she took during a six-month period beginning in March 2012, according to statements made Tuesday in Bladen County Superior Court.

Taneisha Wilkerson, 29, received 24 months supervised probation and ordered to repay the remaining $827.18 by Judge Douglas Sasser. If full restitution is made within 12 months, then the final 12 months of her sentence will be unsupervised probation, Sasser said.

Wilkerson was found to have taken nearly $7,000 from falsifying money orders and about $1,300 through stamp sales and other transactions, according to court statements.

“She made a bad error in judgement,” said Cindy Singletary, who was Wilkerson’s lawyer. “She has got a job now and almost all of the money has been repaid. I think she can recover.”
