NC Wildlife Resources CommissionThe N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has closed six boat access areas along the Cape Fear and Lumber rivers, including two in Bladen County, because of high water conditions.

The Commission has closed the Tory Hole access area in Elizabethtown and the Elwells Ferry access area near Carver’s Creek until further notice, it was announced Tuesday.

The agency also has closed some game lands in Bladen County because of high water. They are the river end of Whitehall Road in Whitehall Plantation Game Land, Camp Road on Whitehall Plantation Game Land from about 1/4 mile to the Cape Fear River, and Lake Road, just past the dam; and Sandridge Road and Loop Road on Suggs Mill Pond Game Land in Bladen and Cumberland counties.

Other boat access areas closed by the Commission are: Fayetteville (Old 87) in Cumberland County, McNeils Ridge in Robeson County, High Hill in Robeson County, and Lennons Bridge in Robeson County.

Commission staff will assess conditions later in the week and open access areas and roads as conditions warrant.
