Majuan McKoy fired in 20 points Tuesday night to lead Elizabethtown’s Cougars to a 60-44 Bladen Five Middle School Conference boys basketball victory at Bladenboro.

Teammate Jordan Robinson pumped in 11 points, and Cory McKoy added 10 points for the winners.

Shy’Ron Adams topped the Bulldog scoring with 18 points. Tray Ballard followed with 8 points, and Da’Shawn Hines finished with 7 points.

The Cougars connected on 15 of 29 free throw attempts. The Bulldogs left a lot of points at the foul line as they converted only 19 of 48 free throws.

Ballard sank 3 free throws, and Adams and Austin Smith dropped in a basket and a free throw each as the Bulldogs built an 11-8 first quarter lead.

Majuan McKoy netted 2 baskets and a foul shot to keep the Cougars close in the first period.

Adams threw in 3 baskets and 3 free throws in the second quarter as Bladenboro maintained a 24-23 halftime lead.

Tyrek Smith and Cory McKoy drained 3-point shots for the Cougars in the second quarter. Majuan McKoy made 4 foul shots, and Robinson added a basket and a free throw as Elizabethtown cut into the lead.

Corey McKoy bombed in a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter, and Allen Owens nailed a 3-point shot and another basket as the Cougars took a 41-38 lead.

Majuan McKoy tossed in 2 baskets in the period, and Zarien Brown had a basket and a free throw.

Adams kept Bladenboro close with 2 baskets and 2 free throws, while Ballard contributed 2 baskets and a foul shot in the quarter.

Majuan McKoy sparked the Cougar offense in the final period with 3 baskets and a free throw. Robinson canned 4 free throws and added one basket.

Elizabethtown remained tied for first place in the Bladen Five with Clarkton School of Discovery. Both teams are 3-0 and Elizabethtown will visit Clarkton Thursday.

Bladenboro is now 2-2 in the league and is idle Thursday.
