Thoughts While ShavingSomeone shared the following recently: Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.  Author Unknown

I celebrated another birthday yesterday, thanks for all the ‘good wishes’.  It was a good day and I attempted to respond to each, but failed.  Not necessarily because of the numbers, but the sources.  I know a little about Facebook, Twitter, Messenger, Instagram, LinkedIn, and email, but not as much as I should. Thanks to all.

As I enjoyed the day, I thought how ‘cropping tobacco’ as a 13 to 14 year old youngster compared with life-long adventures.

I remembered long rows at the tobacco patch, Dixie Bright 101 that made huge plants, if we were moving north to south the wind seemed to be from east to west or west to east.  No relief.  I could only think of finally reaching the end of the row, a cold drink of water from a tin bucket and tin cup that many times, everyone shared, and if there was a tree with low limbs close by, we could climb high enough to feel the breeze on our sweaty body, before beginning another trip through the field.

Sometimes life is much the same.  A long trip, lots of struggles, some conveniences and some inconveniences along the way including a cool drink occasionally, cheers from well wishers as we move forward, adjusting to a different, slower pace.

At my age, if your health is good, you are fortunate, and I am.

So much for this year, looking forward to the next.

What is your handicap these days? one golfer ask another.  “I’m a scratch golfer.  I write down all my scores and scratch off all my bad ones.

Want to hear a pizza joke?  Never mind, it’s pretty cheesy.
