Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Thoughts While ShavingBrrrr cold weather has arrived, bundle up, should be back in the 60s on Monday.

We lost a dear friend this week.  Don Augustine (Augie) was a retired NC Wildlife Officer who retired quietly, spent considerable time fishing and lots of time gardening.  He was an unusual neighbor, he used his small portion of the world to grow veggies and share them with friends.  He and his bride were Pender County natives who moved several times before his retirement, including to the far western portion of the state before settling down in Bladen. His son and grandchildren remained in the western area, but Mary Lee and Augie gained favor of many in the local area, especially the young Valentiner family, neighbors with a couple of young girls who feel at home at the Augustine household.  Check Bladen Gaskins Funeral website for details.

A couple of NCHSAA football scores:

Wallace Rose Hill 35 – Tarboro 17
State Championships next weekend.

Wonder how many locals do most of their Christmas shopping locally?  How many use the Internet?  The later appears to be gaining favor.  Wonder what it will be like over the next 5, 10, 15 years.

Were you surprised to see Rudy Giuliani out of the running for the Secretary of State?  He was by President-elect Trump’s side more than anyone during the election.  Never know what goes on behind the ‘green’ door.

See where the NC Legislature is going back into session to deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Mathew.  What is scary is what else can happen!  Remember HB2?

People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball.  I’ll tell you what I do.  I stare out the window and wait for spring.  Rogers Hornsby

No winter lasts forever, no spring skips its turn.  Hal Borland

In winter, I plot and plan, In spring, I move.
