A fundraiser that was held for Rhonda Rich and her family at Windsor United Methodist Church was deemed a success. Organizers prepared about 850 pounds of barbecue. Plates were prepared and delivered to businesses in both Sampson and Bladen Counties.
It was reported that about $6,000 was raised and more donations were expected to come in. By the end of the event at 3 p.m. the barbecue had sold out.
“Anytime you do this and there is no barbecue left over, that’s successful,” said Billy Piland.
“It was very successful and we had a lot of participation from people. It fills your heart to know you were able to benefit someone from this.
Not only financially, but spiritually,” said Donald Melvin.
