The holiday season is fleeting fast, but before it is gone several folks want to give thanks to some local charities for their hard work. Bladen County has many organizations and charities that work together to assist people in their time of need.

“Bladen We Care is a wonderful organization”, Gary Roberts said. “Bladen Crisis Center is too.”

Roberts recounted a time his neighbors were in need, Bladen We Care and Bladen Crisis were contacted and stepped in to help his neighbors during their most difficult time.

This year Bladen Crisis Food Pantry served over 125 families the Thursday after Hurricane Matthew hit our county according to the pantry volunteers.

Blade We Care assists individuals needing assistance in vulnerable times, they provide aid to residents countywide who are experiencing difficult times due to medical problems and much more.

“Bladen We Care does a great job helping cancer patients,” said Horace Wyatt, Mayor of Dublin.

United Way, NC Baptist Men and the American Red Cross were also some local charities many people in Bladen County were singing praises for this year.

Ann Garrett with United Way said over 600 individuals were assisted after the hurricane hit Bladen County this year.

Bladen County Animal Shelter took in animals all year without a home. During the hurricane the shelter staff was on call to help rescue and give shelter to animals in need.

A Shelter Friend is an animal rescue group in Bladen County helping Bladen animals with low cost spay and neuter clinics and finding them homes.

These are just some of the non-profits making a difference in our community. As a reminder, it is not too late to make a donation to your favorite local charity as a tax deduction this year.
