The 39th edition of the White Lake Water Festival is just hours away, begins tomorrow (Friday) with a Street Dance at Goldston’s Beach featuring Southern Touch Band (free) from 7-9 PM and Classic Car Cruise in at 6:30. Saturday morning, the Parade begins at 10 AM. This years Grand Marshall is Mike Minter, Campbell University Head Football Coach.

Finishing touches are being applied to the new Bladen County Detention Center, scheduled to open in the next few weeks. It’s located on Smith Circle in Elizabethtown, across the street from the Ag Center.
Graduation date for East Bladen Seniors is June 16 beginning at 6 PM. West Bladen Graduation ceremonies will be held June 17 at 10 AM.
Regular users of Owen Hill Road have reason to celebrate today. The road opened late yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon for the first time since Hurricane Mathew came calling last October. Our Bladen County NCDOT folks have done a good job of keeping us updated on openings and closings. Still much work to be done across the county.
