Thoughts While Shaving

It was hot yesterday and more of the same is expected today.

Filing continues for the November municipal elections at the Bladen County Board of Elections.  Most, maybe all of the filings have been for 4 of the 7 towns in the county, they include Bladenboro, Clarkton, Elizabethtown and White Lake.  No filings, as of mid week, for Dublin, East Arcadia and Tar Heel positions.

One more time, if you are interested in serving, you have until noontime July 21, a week from today.  Bladen County Board of Elections is located at 301 Cypress Street, Elizabethtown, behind the Post Office.  The filing fee is just $5.

Saw where former U.S President, Jimmy Carter was overcome by heat yesterday.  The 90 plus year old was working on a construction site in Canada building homes for Habitat for Humanity.  He was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for dehydration.  He is one tough senior citizen.  He was diagnosed in 2015 with melanoma that spread to his brain.  News accounts indicate he is no longer being treated for that dreaded disease.

Think I need a night-time job.  After 3 or 4 hours of sleep, wide awake.  Maybe a job as a night watchman?  Probably fall asleep on the job. Frustrating!!!!

Carolina Crossroads continues to do a great job with males suffering from drugs and alcohol use.  The have about 24 patients at all times, patients are there for 42 days and there is a waiting lists.  Financial support for the help center is important.  Check the Carolina Crossroads website.  New or slightly used men’s clothing is useful as well, can be dropped of at Bladen Baptist Association office in Elizabethtown.

If you’re in the luckiest one percent of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99 percent.  Warren Buffett

No one has ever become poor by giving.  From Ann Frank diary

Criticism, like rain, should be gentle enough to nourish a man’s growth without destroying his roots.  Frank A. Clark
