The National Weather Service has issued another heat advisory for Bladen County beginning Friday at 11 a.m. and continuing until 8 p.m.

Hot conditions are forecast with heat index values up to 109 degrees expected, according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature Friday in Bladen County is expected to reach 95 degrees with a 40% of afternoon showers.

The advisory also covers Robeson, Columbus, Pender, New Hanover and Brunswick counties along with several counties in northeast South Carolina.

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat-related illnesses and the National Weather Service recommends people drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, if possible, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Also, make sure outside pets and livestock have easy access to water and to well ventilated and shaded areas.

Take extra precautions when outside, the National Weather Service recommends. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
