A crash ocurred on NC 20 early Monday and claimed the life of a 19-year-old St. Pauls woman, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol. The crash ocurred at 5:48 a.m. one-half mile from the intersection with Chickenfoot Road.
Highway Patrol Sgt. Ezzell said Wilbur Duncan III of Fayetteville was driving a tractor-trailer owned by C. R. England of Tar Heel, west on NC 20.
Lasheca Caldwell, 19, of St. Pauls, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet eastbound on NC 20 and drove off the roadway to the right, overcorrected and crossed centerline striking the tractor-trailer, said Sgt. Ezzell.
Bladen County Medical Examiner Kenneth Clark pronounced Caldwell deceased. Trooper K. K. Conner investigated the crash.
