• Clarkton, Elizabethtown and Bladenboro Jaycees joined together for a special Memorial Service honoring all Bladen men who died or are MIA in the southeast Asia conflict.
• The North Carolina General Assembly approved $85,000 for the Tory Hole Recreation Park in Elizabethtown.
• Johnny Hemingway, Chairman of the Selective Service System Local Board No. 9, Bladen County, announced that Local Board No. 9 will be moved from Elizabethtown to Fayetteville.
