Here were some of the stories making news in Bladen County in 1974:
*East Arcadia had a swearing in ceremony for their new town officials. Mayor Willie A. Dixon, the members of the town council were: Delilah Blanks, George W. Bryan, Jr., Charles Munn, Jr., Kenneth Long and Levi Dixon.
*Kathy Baldwin Daniel of Clarkton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Baldwin, graduated from the school of pharmacy at UNC Chapel Hill.
*4H public speaking contest winners were Earl Miller III and Ginger Smith. The contest was presented by the Dublin Lion’s Club.
