McGovern seeks body cameras for Bladen County LawenforcementMarian McGovern of Elizabethtown addressed the Bladen County Commissioners Monday evening inquiring about body cameras for the Sheriff’s Department. McGovern explained she had done some research on her request.

According to McGovern the cameras would cost $25 per officer and the maximum number of cameras needed would be 11.

McGovern said, “It would be $275 per month for all the officers on duty to have a body camera.” She continued, “I would pay the $275 per month if they could all have a body camera. It means that much to me.”

Chairman of the Commissioners, Charles Peterson said they would consult with Sheriff Jim McVicker on the matter and would be back in contact with McGovern in a couple of days.

McGovern’s son, Declan Owen, was killed in an officer involved shooting back in March of 2015.
