North Carolina Governor announced today during a press conference citizens must stay at home between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. beginning Friday night.

Due to the COVID-19 trends rising in the state Governor Cooper explained a modified stay-at-home order and a nighttime curfew would be implemented beginning Friday, December 11, 2020.

The modified Stay at Home  will take effect at 5 p.m., and will continue through at least January 8, 2021, according to Gov. Cooper’s order.

The order includes businesses, of large varieties such as, restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, personal care businesses, and most retail stores are  required to close by 10 p.m., according to the new order. In addition, all alcohol sales must cease by 9 p.m.

If cases continue to rise, Gov. Cooper warned more actions and restrictions will be taken. He reiterated the importance of “wearing a face mask when we are with people we don’t live with, keeping a safe distance from others, and washing our hands.”

“I am very worried… Do not wait until it is you or your loved one sick before you wear a mask,” Dr. Mandy Cohen, Secretary of NC Department of Health and Human Services stated as she started her presentation at the press conference.

Over 80% of the state’s counties are colored orange or red on the NC COVID-19 (coronavirus) spread map. Bladen County was among those counties in orange.

According to Dr. Cohen’s report the COVID-Like Illness (CLI) over 14 days is increasing, confirmed cases is increasing, the percent of tests returning positive is increasing, and hospitalizations is increasing.

Bladen County has a total of 164 active positive cases with five related hospitalizations.
