The Elwell Ferry in Bladen County is operating under new management by a local contractor. The free, cable-guided ferry will be able to operate more consistent hours for the public.
Posted hours are March-Sept., 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sept. to March, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Before you travel, check http://DriveNC.gov, search under Bladen County, to see if the vessel on Elwell Ferry Road is not operating due to river levels, maintenance, etc.
