Are you a Columbus County resident and interested in gaining behind the scenes knowledge of the Sheriff’s Office, through hands on activities? If you answered yes, Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy is just for you. It is a 9 week course that meets every Tuesday, except for the week of the Firearms class. That class will meet on a Saturday. Classes are FREE of charge and are held from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Sheriff’s Office or other designated location for “field trips”.
Featured classes include:
Detention Center – Learn what happens after an arrest is made. This class includes a tour of the Detention Center.
Firearm Safety – This class includes time on the firing range.
Major Crimes – You will learn about major crimes, investigate a mock crime scene, and get the opportunity to fingerprint an item.
Uniform Services – This class includes all uniform services at the Sheriff’s Office.
SWAT – Learn about the SWAT Team and experience a SWAT Team demonstration.
Taser – Learn about the taser and watch a taser demonstration.
Columbus Central (911) Tour – Learn what happens after you dial 911. Plus so much more.
Sign up now! Space is limited. Classes begin July 31st and end Sept 25th with a graduation ceremony for your family to attend.
Complete the application and return to the Sheriff’s Office by July 27th
