Celebrating the BECHS Class of 2024!

Dublin, NC – The graduation ceremony for Bladen Early College High School (BECHS) Class of 2024 was a resounding success. Held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Bladen Community College, the event began promptly at 10:00 AM and was livestreamed on the Bladen County Schools and BECHS Facebook pages, as well as the district’s YouTube channel.
Sheriff James A. McVicker had issued a traffic advisory for the ceremony, with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office assisting with traffic control. Despite the congestion, the ceremony proceeded smoothly, celebrating over 30 graduates in the Nighthawks’ third commencement.
Mrs. Susan Chesire, the school’s principal, handed out diplomas. Dr. Jason Atkinson, Bladen County Schools’ Superintendent, delivered an inspiring address. He praised the graduates, saying, “Each of you has faced unique challenges, yet you have all reached this common milestone together. This unity and diversity is the strength of this community. To our families and friends, thank you so much. Your unwavering support has been the backbone of these students’ journeys.”
Dr. Atkinson reminded the graduates, saying, “Your education does not end inside these four walls, but it is a lifelong journey… The world awaits your brilliance; go forth and shine your brightness.”
Dr. Donald Rush, a native of Bladen County and a proud graduate of Bladen Community College before pursuing further education at a university, delivered an inspiring speech as the guest speaker. With an impressive career in education, Dr. Rush spoke to the graduates with passion and conviction, challenging them to excel in their chosen fields.
He urged, “I challenge you today to be unapologetically yourself and to be the best you that you can be.” His words resonated deeply, encouraging the graduates to embrace their individuality and strive for excellence. Bladen Early College High School extends heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2024 and expresses gratitude to all who contributed to making the ceremony a memorable event.
