The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Bladen County beginning Wednesday (today) at 11 a.m. and continuing until 8 p.m.

Hot conditions are forecast with heat index values up to 109 degrees expected, according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature Wednesday in Bladen County is expected to reach 95 degrees.

The advisory covers a larger area than Tuesday’s advisory, which only included Robeson County and a few inland South Carolina counties. Wednesday’s advisory includes Robeson, Columbus, Pender, New Hanover and Brunswick counties in North Carolina and several counties in northeast South Carolina.

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat-related illnesses and NWS recommends people drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, if possible, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
